About Stewert LyddallA background profile about the man and his machines
Precision Stunt Driver
I’ve always had a passion for cars, bikes and anything that goes fast. I started drifting my mum’s Fiesta on private roads, aged 14. I saved up and funded my first attempts at motorsport – beginning with rallying in a group A Talbot Sunbeam, Ford Escorts, a Sierra Cosworth and a Pergeot 205 GTi.
After several great seasons of racing – including competing in the Peugeot 205 GTi Hot Hatch Series – I switched to the Locost Series. A year later I competed in selected rounds of the RGB Series, racing the Locost – by now fitted with a Honda Fireblade engine.
In 2004 I joined a friend who was racing Jaguars. The challenge of getting a monstrous rear-wheel-drive XJS with more power than grip quickly around a circuit was too much to resist. I achieved some fantastic results, and was 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Modified Jaguar V12 Champion.
I started instructing at private track days in 1995. I enjoyed seeing people getting their first taste of driving around a circuit/rally stage and helping everyone from novices to experienced competitors to improve their lap times. I currently instruct at venues in the UK and abroad for a wide range of car manufacturers, supercar companies and race schools.
I am one of only a handful of people to regularly instruct in the supercharged Ariel Atom – which has a 0-60mph time of just 2.8 seconds! I love my work as a precision stunt driver, doing whatever it takes to get the perfect shot and to make the car look as impressive as possible.
